Reut Yaacobi

M.Sc Student

Reut completed her B.Sc. in Biotechnology Engineering at Ben-Gurion University’s Faculty of Engineering. The final project took place in Prof. Robert Marks' lab, where she researched the assessment of body oils toxicity using a panel of bioluminescent bacteria. She participated in IGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine), in a research project about synthetic biology methods, including genetic engineering of the bacterial populations in sewer systems and using bacterial surface-display systems. Her team’s final goal was to solve the clogging problems that are caused by wet wipes. Reut is performing an M.Sc. in our laboratory, studying gene therapy techniques in order to rescue hearing in a mouse model for human deafness. She focuses on the mechanism of myosin VI in auditory function and the functional properties of the role of myosin VI in the inner ear.
